Even through many years of dictatorship and economic mismanagement, Kenya for many years continued to be respected. After the elections in 2007, the country took a nosedive in the eyes of Kenyans themselves, as well as foreigners. The country was on a slide to economic ruin, hopelessness and destitution, thanks to a rogue parliament and a leadership that "saw no evil, heard no evil".
Many Kenyans in diaspora and even back home, are very clear on what the country should do to deliver its people from the vicious cycle of poverty and rudderless politicians. However, progressive and visionary people have continued to give politics a wide berth. It is time to mould an unstoppable movement of people of integrity to sweep out the current crop of politicians. Money or no money, it can be done. We have to believe that it can be done. The alternative is untenable. We cannot resign ourselves to the same old politics that continue to cement the notion that Kenyans will perpetually wallow in poverty.
We need an "operation clean slate" in 2012. Kenyans of integrity, vision and accountability must line-up to steer the country in the right direction. The current leaders have proven by deeds, misdeeds, tribalist trends and sychopancy, that they are unable to provide efficient solutions to redeem the country from the rot it has become. Kenyans have lost patience with the political elite who continue to protect each other for the sole purpose of perpetuating their stranglehold on power, regardless of the wishes of the people.
"Operation clean slate" 2012 should bring together progressive leaders who can demonstrate that they have the experience successfully running corporations or businesses. They must be prudent, honest, innovative, educated and able to think outside the box.
The brief for "Operation clean slate" shall be:
- Marshall resources to build as many secondary schools and universities as possible.
- Seek innovative measures to promote cohesion across the country and address the root cause of perpetual violence in the tribal clashes zones.
- Pull all stops to build new roads and expand existing ones, with emphasis on the city of Nairobi. - Create laws to seal loopholes used to pertpetuate corruption e.g. expeditious completion of corruption trials, public declaration of wealth, detailed publication of government expenditure.
- Go all out to create jobs for Kenyans i.e. create links with the west for BPO (take advantage of new marine cable), which seriously could get all Kenyans employed, train excellent plumbers, electricians, welders etc. to send to "overheating" economies.
